300 Firefighters Battling Forest Fires in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

Firefighters still battling bush fires in Chernobyl's exclusion zone for over a week now.

Is this another Australia? Let's lend a hand to put a stop to this before its too late.

A 27 year old man has been detained for involvement in the forest fires.

The Extinction Level Event [ELE] Cookbook and Culinary Guide

Over the last few days I've been scratching my head a lot and waving my hands around even more, as it occurred to me as any given extinction level event
[ELE] proceeds through its calendar count down, this just might ruin my career and daily bread, amongst other things.

As a food writer for my daily bread, what would it be like to write about food we can't eat due to contamination/radiation? As the list of off-limit foods grow, we have to get more creative.

And this is where the light bulb went off in my head, again, that bulb makes me do zany things, like creating The ELE Cookbook and Culinary Guide for a radiated yet hungry population. It's simply radiation free cupcakes and other good stuff your kids are proven to eat.

It's magically delicious.

More on this idea for a cook book soon ....

Radioactive Wolves Versus ELE [Extinction Level Event]

Radioactive Wolves

I enjoyed viewing Radioactive Wolves on PBS. It depicts what transpired through the years since the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Evidently, the natural kingdom is better off without humans interfering, and as if we didn't already know this. Whole ecosystems are now healthier then they were before the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl.

This is not to say that the disaster was good for the environment, only that all the humans left the region, and in the interim, the ghost town or region welcomed the returning species to the region and are multiplying since without any human interference.

Life Will Go On Without Us

This reassures me with what I've always believed. Life on planet earth will go on and do fine without us, and do even better without us and our dominating interference.

Chernobyl is a small region of the world and cannot compare to an ELE - Extinction Level Event - where all species on earth are wiped out rapidly. Our last ELE on earth lasted 30 million years until all systems were completely renewed. This is based on recent scientific evidence.

ELE

A lot of what we wrote and speculated about over the years since March 2011 Fukushima has actually come to pass and now is more mainstream knowledge. Now there are those also stating Fukushima nuclear disaster is an ELE event. We're already looking at dozens and dozens of Hiroshima events, and these Hiroshima's aren't ending at Fukushima as the reactors stand the same today as they did back in 2011 with no relief in sight as we enter into 2015.

Survival Guide

My best advice in terms of a survival guide is live each moment we have right now to the fullest.

Sure, follow the survival guides out there on the net, but I wouldn't suggest the use of algae and seaweed products for health and detoxifying. I'm seeing this is a popular suggestion in survival guides.

Seaweed and algae absorb radioactivity. It just doesn't make any sense to me to ingest radioactivity in hopes to detoxify it from my body? Obviously, stay away from crustaceans and other fish that dwell near the ocean's floor, such as Flounder etc.

Detoxifying

If you are worried about radiation and detoxification, better to mix some baking soda in water, or mix DE (FOOD GRADE ONLY) in water or juice. You can also drink some clay's with water as well. Alternatively, you can add clay's, baking soda, Epsom salts and sea salts to baths. All of the will provide detoxification of heavy metals and radiation without ingesting seaweed and algae products.

[Contradiction: DE is a fossilized algae, ancient algae in powder form. Use your own judgment on this product for detoxifying and never over use it - less is more. On a microscopic level, DE looks like shards of glass. And that's essentially what it is.]

I take all these baths for many years before the Fukushima disaster, so it hasn't been a change in my daily routine.

My only other suggestion is to stay away from meat as the higher up the food chain we go, the more radiation we ingest. The same goes for milk. I chose not to drink milk the first year right after March 11.

If you have cancer, find a doctor who will feed you sodium bicarbonate
[baking soda] intravenously. You don't need more chemotherapy [more radiation] or other medical trauma.

Elena Filatova Reminds Us of Chernobyl in Her New Book: Ghost Town

We wanted to write about Elena Filatova, an explorer at heart and creator of a 10-year online journal documenting her explorations by Motorcycle in the dead zone of (and beyond) Chernobyl. We highly recommend her website consisting of 10 years of intimate photojournalism into the behind the scenes story of what has really happened since the nuclear reaction at Chernobyl in 1986.

Her journals and photos are poignant while weaving political history, scientific antidotes, her personal impressions and true life stories of the abandoned people and animals, not only within the dead zone but in hundreds of ghost towns 40 to 80 kms away from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster site.

Elena Filatova has made exploring these areas and ghost towns a life long hobby and this year at the 10th anniversary of her website published Chernobyl Photobook ' Ghost Town.' The proceeds go toward the author buying food supplies and essentials for all those still remaining in the irradiated and abandoned ghost towns and villages to this day.

We are also fond of the authors journal 'Land of the Wolves.' And recently, her concerns are for the recent nuclear disaster at the Fukushima nuclear plants in Japan:

"Nowadays, we are moving from catastrophe to catastrophe so fast that no one has time to learn from what is happening, thus we are doomed to repeat it all again and again. Each time history repeats itself the price goes up.

My aim is to take hold of important events I have witnessed and rescue from oblivion deeds that have been forgotten or chosen to have been forgotten. With time, cities perish and the memory of things is lost, so the sole purpose of my work is to preserve memories on the internet forever.

Since the Ghost Town site first went on the Internet in 2003, tens of millions visitors have viewed the Chernobyl information which it provides. This site is maintained by me, the author, and is completely free of all popup ads and spyware. There are no copyright issues.

Work on this site is my hobby, which I pursue in my free time.""

We can't say enough good things about the authors courageous explorations into contaminated areas, her insights and obvious passion for her cause. In our mind's, Elena Filatova is the epitomy of what it means to be an explorer who explores the abandoned.

Post Apocalyptic Now:

Hello fellow survivors,

We're in the future, yet now in a post apocalyptic reality.

You do not know the past entirely, and if this blog/post/literature continues to exist, like we hope it will, for generations.... you are seeking answers to the past.

You see, no one knew we were in an apocalypse when radiation from four nuclear reactors in Fukushima, in an island country called 'Japan' erupted and lasted for years and years, environmental contamination spewing into the seas and into the land over what was supposed to be 40 years, and ended up at least 100 years.

We thought, ignorantly, that an environmental apocalypse would be dramatic, all over the news, and world wide spread knowledge, but in the end the apocalypse was silent, humble and too many years to take effect and its toll on the oceans, plant life and human beings. No one sounded the trumpets, or interceded and it was business as usual on planet earth.

We thought it would and should be like AMC's 'Walking Dead' or other examples like this, but ignored far too long, until it was too late, that we all we're the walking dead but did not see it, feel it...yet....as that is the silent death of nuclear energy.

We died of nuclear contamination, except for you survivors. Over time. It wasn't quick, or dramatic, but a slow death of time. And now it is up to you, and hopefully communications like this and many others are accessible to you in the future. That is our hope, to let you know what your past was, what earth was.... and what you need to contend with this day.

(Thinking of the current events and obstacles facing Japan, Tepco, the environment and the world, I wanted to write a what if? letter to a post-apocalyptic world and the remaining survivors.)

Radiation 101: Electromagnetic Spectrum, Bananas and RadioPhobia

It’s important to understand some of the types of radiation we can experience every day. Radiation, in a general context, refers to a source of energy that travels through space and may be able to penetrate certain materials. A good analogy is light. As we get more specific about various types of radiation, it’s helpful to view sources of radiation as part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The Electromagnetic Spectrum

Within the electromagnetic spectrum different types of radiation are mapped in intensity and grouped into ionizing radiation and non-ionizing radiation. All sources of ionizing radiation are essentially man-made (X-rays, nuclear radiation), except for very low-level ultraviolet rays with slightly higher frequencies than visible light. Cosmic energy is also ionizing, but the atmosphere and ozone layer try to deal with filtering out cosmic radiation daily.

As we move to the far end of ionizing radiation we can notice that frequencies are higher and waves are shorter. Natural non-ionizing radiation, which we encounter every day, tends to be less energetic with longer wave lengths.

What is Ionizing Radiation?

Ionizing radiation simply means particles or electromagnetic waves that are energized. This causes electrons to detach from atoms or molecules. Ionization creates free radicals, and we’ve all heard much about free radicals and the health consequences for the last decade to understand the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing particles or waves.

Do we live in a radiated world? Yes. Do we live in an inherently ionized world? Nope. There’s a huge difference. Ionizing radiation is linked to cancers, heart disease and genetic coding malformations, to name a few. Non-ionizing radiation consists of radiowaves, microwaves and infrared to name a few.

Bananas and RadioPhobia

When you eat a banana, you get a good source of naturally non-ionized potassium. Due to the fact that a banana consists of non-ionized radiation we can be assured eating it will not create genetic birth effects. Conversely, if that banana was exposed to high or low levels of ionized radiation from a nuclear plant – you’d likely throw that banana out and not eat it. You can read about our previous article Why We Can't Compare Eating a Banana to Nuclear Fallout here.

Eating one banana per day X 365 days per year =
36 μSv per year dosage

Bananas contain a rare radioactive isotope of potassium, which undergoes three types of beta decay. Just like in bananas, Potassium-40 also exists in the human body, but remains a fraction of the 160 grams of potassium the human body contains. Potassium-40 should not be confused with the other stable isotopes of potassium.

There are three potassium isotopes. K-39 (a stable isotope), the most abundant approximately 93% total; K-41 is next at almost 7% and is also a stable isotope. The radioactive isotope, K-40 has a very low concentration of 0.0118% and has a very long half-life of 1,260,000,000 years. I'll still take two bananas please!

So the next time the atomic energy run media tells you we live in a radiated world lumping both ionized and non-ionized sources of energy together (so don’t worry about low levels of nuclear radiation) – tell them to shove it.

We'll also hear all about radiation-phobia in the news and business owners who are instructing citizens to support the economy because civilians won’t buy their radiated products. Your health is more important than their fat bank accounts so don't pay attention to them either. You can read about the Ionizing Radiation Coverup Here.

It is my opinion the average person as we aggregate together is going to finally tell the atomic industry, including media and government supporters of atomic energy industry that we have had enough. We will not care to support the atomic agenda any longer. When this finally happens they will finally have no choice and will be weeded out by the people.

“By and For the People.”

We put together this 2-part article to counter-balance the idiocy of those who prefer to stick their head in the sand (so be it - let them) and provide our insights to anyone interested in more facts and opinions on the world wide web. It may or may not have been the best way to dessiminate information, because all types of radiation under various levels (both ionizing and non-ionizing)can wreak biological havoc at different times.

However, for the media and for those who stick their head in the sand is it correct to tell others less knowledgeable that we live in a radiated world so who cares - why worry? All levels of radiation bring risks, and we live in a highly radiated world nowadays compared to thousands of years earlier. The point is no one needs more radiation. Period.

Some would prefer to just wait things out, live in denial, until humans visibly demonstrate mutant genetic tendencies. Other intelligent beings prefer to use their intelligence and act proactively, question things and find solutions BEFORE we get to that point. At that point, it's too late. Obviously such persons care not about the future generations in such short-sightedness and self-centered living. I think few would question the moral and spiritual emptiness of our cultural times.

Ways to Manage Radiation Poisoning

Ever since March 11th citizens across North America begun stockpiling iodide pills, known to counter the effects of radiation fallout and the associated risks of developing thyroid cancer.

Iodide Pills or Natural Foods?

Whether you live in a zone in risk of nuclear contamination, or not - here are some other preventative measures you and your family can consider for your overall health. Iodide pills can create complications or allergic reactions for a portion of the population, but taking daily doses of certain natural foods have been associated with combating radiation poisoning. Many of these foods were discovered to be beneficial during the treatment of exposed, or contaminated, patients during the fallout in Hiroshima.

Beneficial Foods

Foods which are beneficial include sea vegetables, including kelp, spirulina, chorella and other algae products. Considering the notion right now that ocean seaweeds are absorbing a large percentage of radiation dumped in the ocean near the Fukishima plants, seaweeds will no longer be a viable solution in the months to come. Stock up now.

Taking small daily doses of these seaweeds help the body to release toxic substances from the system. Eat your daily doses of vegetables; vegetables are part of natural detoxification. Cabbage is said to be particularly beneficial in the process of radiation cleansing, or chelation. However, keep in mind which large-leafy vegetables could be highly radiated at the present time, and refrain from eating those.

Other studies have shown that baking soda soaks help remove radiation from the body, as well as brushing the teeth with baking soda. During the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombs, a doctor administered the baking soda bathe successfully. The consequence: No deaths from radiation at his clinic.

What we can gather from these previous studies is that probably any food or detox practice, including sauna usage, is likely good for assisting in detoxing from radiation risks. However, from what we understand, from Hiroshima and Chernobyl is that baking soda and zeolite are both good radiation detox substances. Both baking soda and food-grade zeolite may be taken orally as well.

Washing your laundry in a half a cup of baking soda is another preventative measure.

Add a small pinch of baking soda to your one-cup of drinking water. Please be sure to purchase a water purifier as well. Water distillation, reverse osmosis or even a PUR brand tap filter will help filter out radioactive particles and gases. Charcoal filters are very good at filtering out most, if not all, radioactive particles from drinking water.

Staying as healthy as possible is always one of the best preventative measures we can take and is also within our means of control. Taking antioxidant supplements (rather than eating leafy vegetables that may be radiated) and seaweeds, along with detox bathes may be the best protocol.

Foods to Avoid

Refraining from highly-sugared foods is advised with radiation poisoning. Healing is blocked when sugar is taken regularly, particularly refined sugar. But this remains valid for many disease processes where refined sugar lowers the immunity function in almost all disease pathways.

Another suggestion is to avoid milk products, until radiation levels decrease in intensity. Many have noted had the Soviet Union told Chernobyl the true facts and advised citizens not to drink the milk, many (if not most) of the deaths and ill health effects could have been avoided (Apart from those immediately contaminated with extremely high doses of gamma radiation during the nuclear crisis).
